At the feet of the cross, Jesus called His mother by ‘woman’. It was intentional, not disrespectful. When Jesus calls her ‘woman’, we are at a wedding (Cana, at the Cross). But, it’s not all. Eve only got her name after the Fall. She was called ‘woman’ before the Fall, meaning that she was in a state of grace. And who is the New Eve? It’s Mary. Mystically speaking, Mary is the…
God gives life by his breath, Jesus died by giving away his last breath (asphyxiation on the cross).
Before Jesus died, He said: “It is finish”. Friday is on the 6th day of the week. In Genesis, God finish to create the world in the ‘6th day’. And God rest. Where did Jesus go to ‘rest’? In the tomb.
The tomb was vacant, meaning that it was ‘virgin’.
By his resurrection, Jesus transform a tomb into a womb. To who the tomb ‘belongs to’? A man called Joseph of Arimathea. Who is Mary’s husband on earth? Joseph of Nazareth.
Mary’s womb was the dwelling place where Heaven and Earth meet. In both way, the Holy Spirit gives life: Adam was alive in the Garden of Eden, Jesus was born in Mary’s womb, and Jesus resurrected in the tomb.
Where did Jesus go during that time? He went to Sheol, the realm of the dead. Because of the original sin, people cannot go to Heaven directly. All the good souls before Him (Adam, Eve, Abraham, etc.) were stuck in a middle place, waiting for Jesus to die in order to pay for their redemption.
Mandorla (almond shape) is a symbol of femininity. Early Christians depicted Christ with that icon in painting to represent a new birth.
Jesus resurrected on the 8th day (symbol of new creation). The Jews circumcised on the 8th day.
