Mary

Mother of God

  • Lk 1:43 – Elizabeth calls her “mother of my Lord” = God
  • Gal 4:4 – God sent his Son, born of a woman

Perpetual Virginity

  • Mt 1:18 – Mary is pregnant from the Holy Spirit
  • Ps 89:28 – David is called firstborn, king of the earth (Jesus is the New David)
  • Col 1:15 – Jesus is called firstborn of all creation, as a refutation to Mt 1:25
  • Jn 19:26 – Jesus entrust his disciple to Mary

Immaculate Conception(born without sin)

  • Lk 1:28 – angel Gabriel calls Mary “full of grace” : you can’t have sin if you’re full of grace
  • Eve had sin; therefore the New Eve to invert the process need to be sinless to bring salvation
  • 2 Sam 6:6-7 – Uzzah die by touching the pure Ark of Covenant (Mary is the New Ark of Covenant)
  • God wants to rebuild humanity; there must be a starting point of sinlessness like the original Adam & Eve
  • No biblical or historical evidence Mary committed a sin

Ascension in Heaven

  • No evidence of her body on earth (no church claims to have her tomb like the Apostles)
  • Transmitted by Sacred Tradition (truths contain outside of the Bible)
  • Apostle’s Creed affirms the belief in the resurrection of the body
  • 2 Kings 2:11 – Elijah went in Heaven in whirlwind (possible to get directly into Heaven)
  • She was sinless; no need to go through purgatory; she went directly into Heaven
