In the beginning God created heaven and the earth. And the earth was void and empty, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the spirit of God moved over the waters.
Genesis 1:1-2
Let’s pay a bit of attention on 2 words of that verse: Spirit + water.
Every time the Bible mention the Holy Spirit with water, God is doing a new creation!
So when we get baptized, we are being born a new creation! You’re living a new life in Christ.
Jesus answered and said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above. Nicodemus said to him, “How can a person once grown old be born again? Surely he cannot reenter his mother’s womb and be born again, can he?”
– John 3:3
What does it mean? Actually, the tomb of Jesus is an image of a womb. He died there and rose again, alive, just as a new born. Jesus was born a 1st time in the womb of Mary, He will be born a 2nd time in the tomb. So whoever is getting baptized, share the experience with Christ: die & rise to a new life.

Art of rebirth
Let’s observe this paintng of the resurrection of Jesus.
It’s an old painting…
Did you notice the meaning of the shape behind Jesus Christ? It wasn’t paint randomly: it’s a symbol of femininity, representing what? A new birth! When Jesus resurrected, he was also reborn out of the tomb, just like the 1st Adam who was born from union of the ground & the Spirit of God, so is Jesus born again from the tomb, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
